There was nothing in it that was reminiscent of Gabaldon's writing style, at least to me. I read the second in the series, and it was possibly a bit better. I'm now reading The Scottish Prisoner which finally seems like it is has similar style, voice, etc. that we are used to with the Outlander series. Hope this helps someone.(less)
