Also, I would recommend "The mystery of Easter Island" by Katherine Routledge. This book was written in 1910s, you can learn a lot about the local culture.

Lastly, there are many academic papers on the origin of Easter Islanders, using different scientific approaches like population genetics and archeaology, which I also like to read.(less)
