I did not read the novel before this one, but I am assuming the youngster would be in that book. I know he's in future books. I'm glad you enjoyed her book. I have been amazed at the quality of the many books Ms. Perry writes. I know there are 21 William Monk books in that series and haven't even considered reading the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt novels!!
