David Bell's book.... Cemetery Girl, The Forgotten Girl and etc... are they in a series and should I be reading them in order? I have started on The forgotten Girl and can't put it down, usually if I cannot get past the first 50 pages, I won't read it. I read for enjoyment, if you read to accomplish reading so many books in a year, that's not enjoyment that's work. Read what you like, don't read if you don't like

You shouldn't read just to read but sometimes, books (especially if written by a non American author) require more patience. Literature is art and it should contain a hook very quickly but they are also a reflection of a particular culture. My favorite example is "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." I nearly threw it aside. I had been reading about the macroeconomic complexities of eastern Europe FOR 89 PAGES! I told myself one more chapter and if I still couldn't get into it, it needed to leave. It's one of my favorite novels ever! (less)
