Does Gregory Maguire ever explain why Yackle had it in for Elphaba?

Le Freak Yackle is explained in the previous book 'A Lion Among Men'. She does not reapear in this final book. She was moreso a guardian angel for Elphaba. Does anyone have any guess how old Rain is when the book ends? She starts off 7/8. When she goes to Glinda at the end of the book, Glinda still calls her a child but she has to be in her mid-teens. So, by the end of the book she has to be in her late teens. (My rational is every journey she takes has to take about a year)

Le Freak The absolute oldest I can see Rain being at the end of this book is about 14. It is intentionally vague.

Can somebody tell me which edition, (if any?) has the coloured page edges like the first 3 books ? (Wicked has green edges, A Lion Among Men has yellow and Son of a Witch has red).

Pim Ooraikul I’d really like to know this too. But as far as I know there is none published by Harper Collins (like colored ed of previous books).
