He makes sense to himself, you sympathise, but he remains a man that can't take it any more and resorts to violence. There are a few interesting encounters and conversations as he distances himself from his old familiar world, the expected (Chekhov's gun) mescaline trip, but that's it. I found it easy to finish because it has short chapters and it felt like a countdown. But if you're struggling with it, go ahead and skip it, you're not missing out much :p(less)
