It is the post-60s age groups that have moved more and more toward fascism and humorlessness and that is exactly why the Right has moved back into power. Ironically, GenX'ers who grew up during the time period when radicalism made some headway are exactly the ones who have imposed increasing levels of intolerance and demonization of those who fail to adhere to the "correct" ideologies and do so with absolution and precision. Paglia represents an effort to make it possible to maintain some contextualization of postmodern culture in relation to what actually put the Left into power (to a limited degree, but at least started things in that direction) in the 1970s. The ideological puritanism of the post-boomer generations that is now calling for an end to free speech, "safe zones" and thought policing is what is allowing the Right to keep defeating the Left to the point where Donald Trump could be installed as president.(less)
