There are some mildly graphic descriptions of their suffering and deaths occur several times throughout the book. I think an accurate movie adaptation would likely be PG13.(less)

Ok, I'm not that far in but it seems like a white savior kind of book. White American comes to Haiti and heals the poor black folk with genius and caring... does it get deeper than that?
