Okay, I like this book. Truely, I do. But there's a problem with it. In The Awakened Mage, didn't Asher have spells to summon all sorts of monsters and things? Spells that presumably the old Doraneans had? Why did Morgan feel the need to create his incant if that was the case?

Unanswered Questions (2)

So I haven't read any of Miller's books yet. I'm having a hard time figuring out in what order I should read her books set in the Lur universe. I generally like to go with in-universe chronological order (as in year 1000, year 1001, etc etc), but some reviews I've read (specifically for Blight of Mages) vehemently do not think this is a good idea. Can you folks give me some recommendations? Thanks! :)

This book was interesting, but it didn’t answer questions I most wanted to know. Who created Barl’s Laws and why? It says Barl created a spell to erase the knowledge of Olken magic from the Olken’s minds, so why make Barl’s First Law that Olken practicing magic is a capital crime? Why make it a law that Olken and Doranen can’t marry? Why make the Doranen rulers of Lur? When did Morgan become immortal? Etc
