This book is written very much from the side of Carthage, whereas The Fall of Carthage is more biased towards the Romans. I do think Goldsworthy is a more accessible author though so I would probably recommend reading his book first before moving on to this one (he is generally my go-to first author for any aspect of Roman history, along with Pat Southern).

When I wrote a lecture on the Punic Wars I used both books extensively for locating references and sources.(less)
