This is a fantastic book! My 6 and 8 year olds love it as much as I do! My question is: Where, geographically, does the story start? Where are Firedrake and friends when they set off on their journey?

Serena My hardcover edition of Dragon Rider came with a map, it appears to be near Scotland where they start out from.

What grade level is this for? I'm looking for a good 2nd-3rd grade reading level (7-8 years old) fantasy book. Does this fit?

Lindsay I think 8-year-olds would find this book long but manageable, enjoy the story the whole way through, and feel very accomplished upon finishing it.
