Introducing Goodreads for Facebook Timeline

British playwright Alan Bennett once said, "A bookshelf is as particular to its owner as are his or her clothes; a personality is stamped on a library just as a shoe is shaped by the foot." At Goodreads, we completely agree. That's why we're excited to announce a new Goodreads app for Facebook Timeline.
Timeline—Facebook's redesigned profile—lets you easily track all of the things that are important to you across time. Goodreads members already share more than 12 million books a month with each other, and now with the Goodreads app for Timeline it's easy to share your books with all your Facebook friends, some of whom may not be Goodreads members—yet!
For book lovers, your Facebook Timeline is incomplete without sharing what you're reading. If you connect your Facebook account to Goodreads, you can share the books you're currently reading, as well as your new reviews, progress updates, and quotes, on your Timeline. It's a great way to share the books you love with everyone—regardless of whether you got the book from your library or you read it on your ereader.
Goodreads for Facebook Timeline displays your progress through the books you read.
The Facebook News Feed and Ticker create serendipity—such as showing you when two of your friends were reading the same article or listening to the same band. Now, with Goodreads for Timeline, you'll learn when two friends are reading the same book at the same time. Who knows, maybe you'll end up starting a new book club.
We also know how important it is to keep track of your reading. Facebook Timeline will help with this by creating interesting statistics on what you've read. The Goodreads summary will show which authors you've read the most each month and year, and also give you a roundup of your monthly books and pages read!
Timeline provides a summary of your monthly reading activity.
Starting today, you can add the books you're reading to your Timeline. In the future, you may be able to go back in time to add all the books from your Goodreads shelves that you've already read, so you can display your favorite books from all the important moments in your life. That would have made Louis L'Amour very happy: "Once you have read a book you care about, some part of it is always with you."
Adding Goodreads to your Timeline will give you a yearly report on the books and authors you love.

You can also add Timeline from the apps tab in the "my account" section.
Here at Goodreads, we want to help people read more and discover great books, and we're happy to offer yet another way to do this with Goodreads for Facebook Timeline. As Chad Harbach wrote in his recent bestseller The Art of Fielding, "So much of one's life was spent reading; it made sense not to do it alone."

I have been having the exact same issue for the past month of so. I have checked all my settings on both GR and FB, and zip. What irks me the most about this is that it used to work perfectly, then for no apparent reason it decided to only show the most read authors list, and if I remove it, it shows nothing at all!

I am trying to add the Author Facebook tab to facebook - of course it isn't a tab now as I have timeline. Are there any new instruction? The ones I found don't appear to work. Since trying the books I have read on FB Goodreads have reverted to July.

Mine does post to my timeline at all any longer and has not for a couple of months. I've given up on this app integration, and from my observations, so has Goodreads. Nothing from Goodreads posts on my newsfeed, and the only thing that posts on my timeline is a small update under recent activity if I finish/rate a book.

Everything about your account looks like it's in order now. It's possible that the connection between your GR and FB accounts expired; re-connecting it, as you did, should fix it. Have you taken any action on the site since re-connecting to FB that should generate a post on Facebook? If not, please try doing so (shelving a book, marking one as WTR, etc. -- anything you've opted into) and see if it works now.
If it works, you can visit this page to import your missing activity.
If it doesn't work, let me know.

Hi Jennifer -- this blog post is a year and a half old, and in that time Facebook has made many changes to their platform. Unfortunately, the feature that allowed Goodreads-specific book counts and book collections has been removed. We hear you and we'd love to have this feature back, but in the meantime you should be able to sort-of see the book collections aspect of it by visiting https://www.facebook.com/me/books

When I rate or review a book, I see little Facebook or Twitter icons that can be unchecked.

There are thousands of businesses around the world and in your local area looking to hire people just like you to work on simple tasks such as:
Posting Facebook comments
Moderating Facebook groups
Uploading photos and tagging people
Generating Facebook ‘likes’ and followers
Most of these jobs don’t require any prior experience and the only skills you need are a good knowledge of how to use Facebook.

Gary, I have given up on this app integrating reliably with FB. Right now my timeline shows GR and "Books Read", but not my Current Read, and I know from experience that will disappear, and then reappear again at some later, random point. It does not matter how you configure your settings on FB with the GR app, it just does not integrate smoothly or reliably. At this point I cannot get GR to show up in my list of apps that I use, so cannot configure it from there anyway. It has not been there for months, yet apps I never use any longer are still on there. I apologize for not having something more positive to say :), but I have struggled with the FB/GR integration since Timeline was introduced and there just does not seem to be any sure solution for it to work correctly.
