Read the Rainbow! 160 New and Recent Books to Celebrate Pride

Happy Pride Month, bookworms!
Each year in June, we mark this annual celebration with a curated selection of books featuring LGBTQ+ authors and themes. This time around, we’re spotlighting recent fiction and nonfiction—books published since January 2025 and available to read this June.
It makes for some seriously fun sorting and browsing. This collection spans the entire genre spectrum, and you’ll find many interesting juxtapositions on the virtual shelves below. For instance, gothic horror featuring a working-class witch next to a story of sapphic romance on the rocky shores of Ithaca, circa 1100 BCE. Next to that, a curious missing-persons case from the 2023 winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor.
On the nonfiction shelves, just savor these book titles: Memoirs of a Gay Shah, The Lesbian Bar Chronicles, The Einstein of Sex, and Forest Euphoria: The Abounding Queerness of Nature. Plus: biographies of James Baldwin, Gertrude Stein, and Marsha P. Johnson.
And if, by chance, you’re looking for a historical New York City love story featuring a sideshow merman on the Coney Island boardwalk, well—check this out.
