92 New Books to Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

Posted by Sharon on November 1, 2026

This Native American Heritage Month, celebrate the bookworm way with this collection of new and recent books. The titles collected below are a sampling of fiction and nonfiction books published since 2024.

There are many fascinating books on the list this year and plenty of options to choose from, no matter your genre preference. Romance readers, consider author Danica Nava’s Sunflower Season, a small-town second-chance story featuring a flower farm. Indigenous horror fans may want to flag author Mathilda Zeller’s debut novel, which pivots off dark folklore from the wilds of Alaska. For some historical fiction, Lora Chilton’s 1666 is based on extensive primary-source research by the author.

You’ll find several recent books from acclaimed authors including Tommy Orange, Louise Erdrich, Stephen Graham Jones, and Amanda Peters. Also in the mix: casino ghosts, coming-of-age mystery-thrillers, YA short fiction, and Navajo medicine traditions.
