The Guide to Fall's New Nonfiction Books (Memoirs, History, and More!)

The temperatures are dropping, the days are getting shorter, and the fall book season is nearly upon us. (If you’re reading from the southern hemisphere, please reverse all that, and enjoy your spring!)
This collection spotlights new and upcoming nonfiction titles publishing between now and the end of December. This time around, we’ve sorted the selections into two main stacks: memoirs and everything else.
Wow, there are a lot of good books on the way. Some highlights: Human rights activist Malala Yousafzai reflects on her incredible life journey with Finding My Way. In Family of Spies, author Christine Kuehn details several shocking secrets regarding the attack on Pearl Harbor. And historical scholar Siddharth Kara documents the incident that led to the abolition of slavery in the U.K. with The Zorg.
Readers of Eat Pray Love and Big Magic will want to consider Elizabeth Gilbert’s harrowing yet hopeful memoir, All the Way to the River. Insider Arabelle Sicardi takes on the corporate “image industry” with The House of Beauty. And finally, the inimitable Mary Roach returns with another weird science odyssey, Replaceable You. Think pig hearts, cybernetic prostheses, detachable genitals…this sort of thing. Bonus pick for crossword nerds: Check it out.
