message 52: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Any chance that we could get a similar "2011 Pages Challenge", too? I love this idea (I'm aiming for 50 books!), but lots of people read longer books and that would be more meaningful.

I like this idea!

message 54: by Alexander (new)

Alexander Keane When I first saw the challenge set, I put 25, but I'm now thinking that I'll try to do 52, one for each week at least... and if I can't manage, then I will at least finish Wheel of Time before the new book comes out.

message 55: by Joan (new)

Joan YEAH :D I'm so doing the challenge that was my new years resoulution Not joking

message 56: by Tamára (last edited Jan 11, 2011 12:49PM) (new)

Tamára Nice! I set it to 25, because I thought 50 would be too enthusiastic.

message 57: by Tahtipolya (new)

Tahtipolya This is the first year I've ever done this, so I'm just going for 30, but I'm going to raise it up to 40, 50, or 60 next year.

message 58: by Lance (new)

Lance Wicked, my first year doing this so ill start at 30 books :)

message 59: by James (new)

James Goal-oriented people can suck it.

message 60: by Pamela (new)

Pamela yay! last year i attempted 30 and got that far and now I'm aiming for 52! Three down so far!

message 61: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Don't be nasty, some people really don't read much, and committing to one book a month - or even just one book! - is more than they're used to reading. Those of us who read more shouldn't snark about it!

message 62: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Incredible, I didn't know, but I always wanted a community challenge like this one.

message 63: by Laura (new)

Laura Newcombe Already set my goal for 50 books. Can't wait to see how I progress throughout the year!

message 64: by Paige (new)

Paige This is awesome. I love how it tell you your percentage so far and how you did last year. Great idea!

message 65: by Kate (new)

Kate Woods Walker Twelve book club books. Ten discussion-series books. That leaves me 78, or six to seven books a month that I WANT to read, rather than MUST read for work. Yeah, that's a reasonable goal. We'll see.

message 66: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) Great challenge!

I wish there was some way to count rereads also towards this challenge, other than by changing the date read to the most recent one. I like to keep my 'date read' set to the first time I read a book. Is there something that can be done about that?

message 67: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy 20 books! Hopefully.

message 68: by Reem (new)

Reem I would love to join too. I mean I have so many books to read I need to set a goal.

message 69: by Eden (new)

Eden Silverfox This is a cool idea. I've joined a few days ago.

message 70: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Thats a great idea!!

message 71: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Rhoton Is anyone having troube adding books? I added a book I just finished yet it is not showing up in my challenge.

message 72: by Danigerous (new)

Danigerous Kendra wrote: "Is anyone having troube adding books? I added a book I just finished yet it is not showing up in my challenge."

I had that problem initially. When I added the challenge I had already finished 2 books in 2011 and it took time till they showed as part of the count.

message 73: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Rhoton Okay it must just be a little bit of a delay :) Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong :)

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

This is a great idea! Maybe this will motivate me to read more.

Danigerous Kendra wrote: "Okay it must just be a little bit of a delay :) Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong :)"

Hey Kendra, I forgot to add that you should also have a date for the time when you finished the book, otherwise it won't show at all. That wouldn't be a problem if it had passed through your 'currently-reading' shelf first.

message 76: by Beth (new)

Beth I need help :( i cant figure out how to add the books , well i can figure it out but it just puts it in the comment is that right?

message 77: by Sangeetha (last edited Jan 12, 2011 08:42AM) (new)

Sangeetha thank u so much goodreads for this great new year resolution which is a resolution plus challenge that we can give to ourselves.

I FOUND IT SORRY :)

message 80: by Beth (new)

Beth i figured it out :)

message 81: by Aditi (new)

Aditi Shah This is a great idea...... very motivating...

message 82: by Jeanna (new)

Jeanna I originally challenged myself to 100 books, but that's easy for me so I'm considering changing it. I challenge myself every year, but this is a fun way to keep track!

message 83: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine Chaffin I went with 200. I plan on reading a total of 500 for my 101 things in 1001 days. 200 in 2011, 250 in 2012 and 50 the first couple of months in 2013.

message 84: by Posie (new)

Posie I'm really excited to do this!! I'm trying for a hundred... I did 74 last year.

message 85: by Beth (new)

Beth IM shooting for 100 books :)

message 86: by Beth (new)

Beth Julia wrote: "My goal is 144 for 2011. last year I read 136."

YOU ARE MY HERO!!lol :) i hope to get close to that!!!

message 87: by Anandi (new)

Anandi Love the idea and looking forward to the challenge. My brothers and I used to compete to read the most when we were kids and found out the maximum books we could take out of the library very quickly!

message 88: by Laura (new)

Laura How can you guys read so much? It's the 12th and so many people have already read upwards of 8 books! Good for you - I'm at 2.5 so far, which I thought was pretty great for myself. My goal is 65...slightly less than I read last year and the year before, so I'm hoping to surpass that easily.

message 89: by Sam (new)

Sam This is a great idea. I don't really make New year revolutions so this gives me something to work towards all year long.

I hope to read 20 books this year. I tend to read books slowly sometimes it takes two or there months for me to read 1 book so for me reading 20 books is a challenge.

message 90: by Kendra (new)

Kendra I started in June of last year logging what I had read as a month by month shelf. When I went back and counted the "read" dates back to January, I read 232 books last year. I only put 200 books down this year, but it should be interesting...

message 91: by KaiPea (new)

KaiPea This is an awesome idea! :D I'm loving it.

message 92: by Wendy (new)

Wendy I'm on it!!

message 93: by Inga (new)

Inga My challenge is a book each week for a whole year. It amazes me how people can read more than a 100 or 200 books a year! Maybe one day I'll set a goal like this too :)

message 94: by Moira (new)

Moira A good idea!

message 95: by Dr Zoule (new)

Dr Zoule More, more, more... let's read more.

No matter what you read as long as you read more and more and more...

Quantity over quality. Sad.

message 96: by Tristram (new)

Tristram 100 books in 2011!

message 97: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary gina wrote: "I'd love to see people set the goal of 111 in 2011 :) (unless you're going above that number that is!)"

Great idea! Updated my goal from 100 to 111.

message 98: by Ava (new)

Ava This is an amazing idea! This will be my first year doing something like this and my goal is 50 books! I can't wait to read with everyone for this challenge! Thanks for the well-organized challenge, GoodReads. This site makes it easy to see how many books you've read. :D

message 99: by Cece (new)

Cece It's a great idea! :D
