Meet this Season's Dark and Twisty Hits

Posted by Cybil on August 16, 2022

If summer book releases are any indication, and they are, then we’ve been in a rather dark mood of late, collectively. But, you know, dark in a good way – deliciously creepy mysteries and horror stories, with a decidedly Gothic tinge.

The books gathered below are full of dark and twisty tales published in June, July and into mid-August. Think of this curated collection as less genre-specific as mood-specific.

Authorwise, you’ll find many of the usual suspects here – genre specialists like Paul Tremblay, Riley Sager and Dean Koontz. We’ve got spooky destinations (The House Across the Lake), interesting people (The Book Eaters), nagging questions (What Happened to the Bennetts?) and good advice (Stay Awake).

Scroll over the book cover images for synopses and links, and add any good leads to your Want to Read shelf.
