If you like atmospheric ghost stories, I can recommend The Twisted Tree. It's set in Norway in the dark time and is based on Norse mythology. It's an easy ready, and was really creepy in places. I kept checking the shadows the whole time I was reading it! https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/sho...
I'm starting with the Year of the Witching! Don't know if it's horror, but witches are always a good idea during Halloween!

hola a todos, un libro bueno que hasta el momento me mantiene es "El retrato de Rose Madder", de Stephen King. ¿Alguien lo ha leído?

That's not it. Thanks tho! It had something to do with this guy who bought this haunted dollhouse and the dolls move and everyone was terrified and I think he gave it away at the end. I barely remember. XD
So far this fall I have read Home Before Dark, Bird Box 2, and Mexican Gothic- reviews coming soon! I

Best book I've read this year is Taaqtumi: An Anthology of Arctic Horror Stories. I've been recommending it to everyone I know, even folks who are not really horror fans. It's that good.I found it more atmospheric than pure horror, and YMMV, but the pieces pull from our mythology and folk tales, so that made me love it all the more.
Skeletons In The Closetyou could try "Skeletons in the Closet" or " Child under the stairs" by R.D. Noland. take a look.
I read a story about a haunted dollhouse too and now it's going to bother me that I can't remember the nameHelena wrote: "I don't really know horror stories, the ones I do I can't remember the name of, something to do with a haunted dollhouse.

i hate horror movies but i decided to give the genre a try by reading Mexican Gothic and The Year of the Witching. LOVED both of them, so if anyone has similar recommendations I would be really thankful!!
I'm re-reading Dracula, by Bram Stoker. Hard to beat. Steven King's version of the vampire story is also outstanding - 'Salem's Lot.
I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to read horror, yet I noticed I've marked a few of the listed books as tbr. Gah! I've scared myself!
Why is H. P. Lovecraft missing from recommendations literally everywhere? Same goes for a lot of the genre "fathers".
Gonna try and Get Dracula finished this October. It’s taken me nearly 4 years to read it. And some Stephen King books.
If you like zombies, samurais and vikings, Samurais of Fukushima - the battle of the dead is the perfect book to read this Halloween! You can find the Portuguese and English (Pre-order) version on Amazon! (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08KJJZRLL)
Samurais de Fukushima: A batalha contra os mortos
I don't read much horror but I'll definitely recommend "Ghost Teller" Ghost Teller Season 1 (Read it on Webtoons). The scariest thing about this book isn't the ghosts, ghouls, or demons, but the humans.
When you realize a book you've seen promoted everyplace as "mainstream" and it's considered horror (Bunny: A Novel) While I'm not one, I know several people who consider horror a "lesser" genre so it's nice to see it get its due!
Blades of Glass a little biased, but outside of that I think I Let You Go is probably one of my more recent favs 📖
