September's Most Anticipated New Books

Some of the heaviest hitters in the literary world step up to the plate this September, with new works from Stephen King, Malcolm Gladwell, Margaret Atwood, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and punk priestess Patti Smith. From daring escapes via the Underground Railroad to dystopian drama in the Republic of Gilead, we've got your autumn adventures all lined up.
Each month the Goodreads Editorial team takes a look at the books that are being published in the U.S., readers' early reviews, and how many readers are adding these books to their Want to Read shelves (which is how we measure anticipation). We use the information to curate this list of hottest new releases.

Atwood, King and Smith are the ones I'm excited for. The first two come out on the same day and I don't know which to prioritize! #luxuryproblems

Just Finished reading "Before Dawn" by Suzanne Halliday! The characters are fantastic and I was sad to have to turn the last page. I love books that leave you a little sad that the story is over for now. Suzanne has such incredible characters you want to be part of their world, their group or family. I LOVE that about her books. Before Dawn is a single mom kick ass love story any of us would be lucky to experience!

I mean separate listings, fiction and nonfiction. When grouped together, the nonfiction books are always short changed.
