Cathie (ClassyLibrarian) I agree. I have a huge shelf of TBR books and this list helps me to pick and choose accordingly. Lately, I have been really into non-fiction and historical fiction but what I love about this challenge is, it does just that, challenges me to read a couple of books out of my comfort zone. Last year I read a few books that I never would have chosen for myself but they came highly recommend by fellow GR's. And even though some of them were a bit if not outright uncomfortable, I found that I grew not only as a reader but, I believe, as a librarian as well.
Maybe this year I will actually read my first horror book!! (gasp!!)

Sandra Loved this feature the moment I discovered it.

Say, you can't perhaps nudge Amazon.DE to finally hook up the kindle with Goodreads AS THEY PROMISED YEARS AGO?

Nevermind. *laughs* It's just ... I get reminded of it, whenever I see the option to log in via Amazon and import my kindle library, and it doesn't work, because it's Amazon.DE. I'll keep adding everything by hand. ♥

Lauren Flannery Does anyone know why I only have 3 books showing in the stats when I calculate my year of books instead of the 19 I have read and dated 2018 in the app?

message 54: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Dina wrote: "I really love this feature and I always check it throughout the year to see my progress, but I wish you would fix the thing where it counts the pages of books I have shelved as audiobooks. My total..."

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing as mine is off my 3,000!

message 55: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Elise This and the challenge is how I like to see my books since Shelfari shut down.

Cathy Sandra wrote: "Say, you can't perhaps nudge Amazon.DE to finally hook up the kindle with Goodreads AS THEY PROMISED YEARS AGO?"
Now that would be nice. All my notes and highlights posting here automatically... 😁

Did you set them all to „read“?

message 58: by Shanna (new)

Shanna When I try to share my year in books on social media all it shows is the banner for Goodreads and says: Sign in. Anyway to fix this?

message 59: by Lorena (new)

Lorena I don’t see an updated list. Anyone know how i can update it?

message 60: by Alicia (new)

Alicia How do you get the infographic as a download/image? I don't see an option for this.

message 61: by Emily (new)

Emily I second Shanna’s question. I’m trying to share my year in books on social media and it displays as a link to the sign in screen. :(

message 62: by Lindsay (last edited Dec 31, 2018 08:32PM) (new)

Lindsay I love this, though when I try to share it via twitter or Facebook it just says “sign in”. I’ve tried both the app & desktop versions. This was a problem for me last year too. Hoping it’s an easy fix?

message 63: by Nada (new)

Nada It seems like rereads don't count in this feature?

message 65: by Dreamybee (new)

Dreamybee I love this feature, but I am having trouble getting my numbers to agree. My reading challenge shows that I read 34 books, which is correct, but my total, at the top of the page, only shows 22. I’ve refreshed, logged out, waited a day, and it still isn’t right. What can I do?

Also, I can’t figure out how to access my Year in Books from the iPhone app. The only way I can do it is to Google “Goodreads year in books”, click on this article, and THEN use the link in the article to get there. Am I missing something?

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Autumnal Hermione Hey :) I have the same problem as Shanna and Emily. I cannot share my Year in Books 2018. I've tried both the mobile and desktop version of the app. The post is routed to the Goodreads Sign In page. I tried to share 2017 and 2019. They work. Is there maybe some issue with the 2018 link?

message 67: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Chotkowski Same here, list hasn't been updated even if I checked the dates read are correct.. can this be solved GR?

Francelia Belton How can I get My Year in Books to show up on my Goodreads profile page?

message 69: by Shaun (last edited Jan 09, 2019 02:24AM) (new)

Shaun Hi all, thanks for your comments and feedback here on Your Year in Books 2018. I'd like to address the common reports below:

1. Making the Your Year in Books page printable/downloadable. We've had quite a few requests for this and it's a great idea! Our developers have been informed of the requests.

2. Sharing Your Year in Books page on social media just shows the Goodreads banner and says: Sign in. What gives? This could be a result of a couple things. a) Your profile is set to "Private" and sharing options are purposefully limited in this way to protect your privacy you've opted-in for. You'll want to make your profile public through your Account Settings to make sharing work as you'd like. b) Facebook/Twitter etc. are using an old cache image to display Goodreads shared data — clearing your browser cookies and cache and then resharing could resolve this.

3. My book count is incorrect on my Your Year in Books page and/or my Reading Challenge page. The first thing to do here is check your dates read for 2018 have been entered correctly. If no 2018 date read appears for a book it won't show on either pages making it look like you've read less than you have. Sometimes accidental duplicate date entries can falsely increase your counts — watch out for these too. The best way to scan these is to navigate to your Read shelf on the desktop website, sort by "date read", then scroll down the page while checking all is in order in the date read column. Make edits as necessary from your Edit Review page of the books in question.

I hope that helps!

I'd also like to address some individual comments:

Lauren wrote in message 56: "Does anyone know why I only have 3 books showing in the stats when I calculate my year of books instead of the 19 I have read and dated 2018 in the app?"

I'm seeing 22 books read on your Year in Books. If this is not correct please double check and edit your read dates for the books you read in 2018.

Francelia wrote in message 73: "How can I get My Year in Books to show up on my Goodreads profile page?"

The Your Year in Books click-through only appears on regular user profile pages. As you have an author profile, it is setup differently. The good news is you could always create an author blog post and link Your Year in Books there. This way all of your followers and friends will receive the update in their feeds (depending on their feed settings).

message 71: by Tiff (new)

Tiff I am a teacher and I really, really want to be able to print this out to hang up at school! Not as easy to share on social media with kids. Any chance of this being available in printable format? Or a hack I can use? Only thing I can think of is several screenshots but it won't look nearly as nice.

I do LOVE this feature!

Shaun Hi Tiff! You're not alone in wanting this and we're glad to hear you love the feature. Even though it's not available in printable format, we'd love to do this at some stage.

Rain It's a great feature all around. Although, I wonder why two of my 5-star books from 2018 are not shown in the bigger tile like the rest. The same goes to one book I've rated 5-star this year. Not sure if it's a bug.

Hi Lorainne! 👋 It's imperative that a 2018 date read is assigned to the missing books in question for them to appear on, either last year's Your Year in Books page, or the 2018 Reading Challenge. Please double-check you have entered a date read for the books deemed missing.

If the dates have been entered correctly, but the books are still not appearing on the respective pages, it's best to reach out to our Support team for assistance.

Hi Shaun,

I was referring to how there were 2 different book cover sizes shown in the Year in Books page. I assumed all 5-star books were automatically shown in the bigger tile, as in to highlight them.

However, some of my books that are rated 5-star do not appear in the bigger cover size, while some do. I wonder why that is the case. For example, this year, I rated An American Marriage 5-star, but unlike Becoming, another 5-star book in my list, it appears in the small tile like the rest non 5-star book.

By O. Hey! I added a book as read, buit it was a mistake. I deleted from my read shelves but still appears in my "Year in Books" (as the longest book). It will updated later or it will stay like that??
