Stars of Fortune discussion thread

stars largeThis is the place to discuss Stars of Fortune, Book 1 of The Guardians Trilogy. Please note that spoilers will abound.

I knew the basics of this book from conversations with Nora, but even knowing those basics, the way the story unfolded, the way secrets were revealed kept me reading faster and faster until it was done.

Please share your thoughts about the book or about this new group of six we meet or their particular talents. My personal countdown until book 2 is already underway. Laura

Rita Kayla I wanted to read this new trilogy ever since I heard about it but I am going to wait for the other two books to come out so I read them all at once... Otherwise, I'll go crazy.

Effie Kammenou My review of Stars of fortune? To be honest, the only trilogy I've reads of Nora Roberts that I didn't care for was her last series. The Dark Witch. I thought I was going to enjoy it because I love when she throughs the paranormal into her stories. But there was too much backstory from the past rather than the one or two pages she usually gives us in a prologue. There were too many battles and for too long. and they all seemed to similar. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't my favorite. This new trilogy takes place on a Greek island. Often, she writes books with Irish characters or with a setting in Ireland. Since I am Greek myself, it will be interesting to see how she portrays the country and its people. I am looking forward to it.

message 7: by Dalene (new)

Dalene I finished this book yesterday and I enjoyed it. The characters come together, grow and bond with one another in the first book. The book is very different from others because of who the characters are (will not reveal at this time). As I read I was able to figure who they were except for Doyle. There are enough surprises to keep the reader interested. I can't wait until the next one!

Effie Kammenou Thanks Darlene! I'm finishing another book but I will start this one next.

Sages_and_Pages Nora Roberts is one on my all time favorite writers. I pre ordered this book and it was delivered to my kindle. It's next on my "to read" list. I've been anticipating this book for months! I can't wait!

Effie Kammenou I agree, Kristen. There are certain authors that you gravitate to, and she is on the top of my list.

message 11: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I don't know how she did it again, but it was amazing! I loved the book. Nora is always able to pull of wonderfully relatable characters that you fall in love with. I was a little worried about the story, as she has done a variation of this before, but everything in Stars Of Fortune was unique and exciting in its own way! I can't wait for the next in the series!

Effie Kammenou Good to know. I was going to read it next, but I'm going to read a fellow author's book first and then Nora's. I want to be able to review it on a timely basis so I will read the other first. You should check it out while you are waiting for the second book. It's a trilogy also and all three are out. The lady of the pier by Effrosini Moushoudi. You can keep the greek Island theme. Mine also is greek, but not paranormal or mystical. Just a straight love story family saga

message 13: by Leslie (new)

Leslie I finished Stars of Fortune yesterday. I was not into another book about magic. However, shortly after I started it, I was consumed by it! I really enjoyed it and was really surprised by some of the characters "secrets." I should have known that I would love it because I love ALL Nora Roberts' books. She is by far my favorite author!
