Another "Good" Condition Incident
I purchased The Ecstatic from an Amazon approved seller who I’ve used several times. The book was marked “good” condition. Not sure how many of you remember the problem I had with the Jo Nesbö book I received from Wonder Books a while back, but this was a different seller. I like this new seller. They are normally terrific, especially when it comes to used books. But this? Well… just look.
That’s at least five layers of stickers. And no, I’m not the one who tried to remove the ones that are only remnants now. I have not altered the book in anyway. What you see is what I got in the mail yesternight. If you zoom in, you might even see the “Good” on the newest sticker, the topmost one set right of center.
There’s writing on Every. Single. Page. On top of all that, the spine is feathering and the cover is bent to shit.
That’s my “Fucking, really???” face.
Who looks at a book like this and says, “Yeah. Sure. This is in good condition.”

I had a similar problem when I recently purchased a hardcover of Under the Dome. Listed as good; no dust jacket, pages all helter skelter, and HOLES (PLURAL!!!) in the cover. Apparently some people don't understand how these things affect book lovers. I mean, yeah, it's readable, but it hurts to look at it.
I've been trying to get a recommendation to you, but apparently since we're not "friends," this is the only way GR will let me.So.

So dark and lyrical and wonderful and compelling. So very very dark. Reminds me of classic King mixed with The Child Thief. I highly recommend it.
I'm not associated with the author or publisher in any way, just so you know. I know there's been some GR kerfluffle about that sort of thing. I just really enjoy your reviews, and we have a lot of books in common, and I wanted to see what you thought of it.

You're welcome, and no problem. I may have just not been looking in the right place.
I had that with two books... the Laurie R King one said 'like new' and when I went to read it, some pages had holes in them, rips, and some stains. And from a seller I had bought from many times before.
The other said 'good' condition and had highlights and writing in the margins IN PEN... got a refund for those. (If they had said highlighting had been in the book, would not have bought it).

Every now and again they run aground of readers like us and have to dole out a refund, but that doesn't affect the other crappy books they profited from by selling to people who don't care. If I'm paying money for a book, even if it is used... I want it in good condition, it doesn't have to be perfect but all I ask of a seller is t be honest in the description.
This is why I have semi-extensive conditions on paperbackswap. One girl told me someone sent her a book that was severely water-damaged and didn't bother to notify her before sending it.
