Career of Evil is published today

The third novel in the Cormoran Strike series is published today in the UK and US. In this latest addition to the series, Strike and Robin have been described as “just as magnetic as ever” by the New York Times, and The Independent hopes that “the sardonic Cormoran Strike is here to stay”. Career of Evil is a fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner; it is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.

Jocelyn Greig I read the first 2 pages in Kmart whilst shopping there. I felt so sad that the author would choose to write a mystery story book that at the very first sentence delights in the lust of a murder accomplished of a young woman- who was hated and then further describes feelings that degrade all sensitivity to women.

We should never delight our minds with appetites about murder. God is weeping that our souls find pleasure in reading this evil content. There is no place in heaven for murder of innocent people,(real or imagined!). Why are thousands of refugees in Europe? They want to escape murder by the knife from wicked leaders with no love inside them. If the author chooses to keep writing these murder stories then she is uniting her soul with Satan.

When Jesus walked on earth he warned us: ..."And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' Everyone will be salted with fire." Mark 9:47-49. That is what will happen to JK Rowling and her pseudonym name if she doesn't change what she writes. Jesus said, "it is written, 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only'." Mathew 4:10

People who love this 'masterly writing' and lust for more of it are being dragged to the same place that Jk Rowling has charmed them into. We should not be fooled, JK Rowling's life history shows she doesn't have an exceptional academic school record and as an adult 'is not on speaking terms with her Dad'. How then are we exalting her clever writing skills? Where has her fame and glory come from? Please think about whose thoughts we want to follow, and the example we can be to our children in this short life God has granted us.

Please lets all try to open the eyes of our hearts and read books that honour love, goodness and faithfulness. Find novels that direct our minds to images that build life!!

God wants us to "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John13:34), not to murder and spill blood. Jesus spilled his blood at the cross for our sin, our pride, so we could be set free to love as Jesus showed us how to love. What perfect love of God's favour toward us! There is nothing 'excellent', 'lovely' or 'glowing' to anticipate reading when it's about the 'blood under the killer's fingernails, (from the person killed who was made in the likeness of God!)when your fingers are burning in hell and that is where the pseudonym author is heading. Her charmed imagination is taking her there.
