EXCERPT: Julia's Story

Happy Reading!!!!
EXCERPT:
Today is game day. This means, I NEED to have my peanut butter sandwiches.

The last cupboard door is closed and—nothing. No peanut butter means no sandwiches, which means bad playing, and I can’t have that. I run to find my cell phone to call Faith. She must have some at home, she ALWAYS has her house well stocked with food, especially in her condition. I’m about to press the “call” button when my doorbell rings. I ignore it and continue, but it rings again. Giving up, I make my way to the front door when the darn thing rings, AGAIN.

Some people have no patience nowadays.

Frustrated, I throw open the door. There, in front of me, is the most beautiful vision I’ve ever seen—two cases of Peter Pan honey roast peanut butter. What’s even more amazing is that it’s CREAMY peanut butter.

“Oh, sweet baby Jesus,” I say in relief. “I could kiss you,” I tell the person, not caring who’s holding the boxes; especially since they’re stacked and covering the face. “Come in, come in,” I say. This is one gift I’m definitely not turning away. “Please follow me. Those yummy jars need to be in my kitchen.”

He (I assume he’s a he) chuckles and follows me.

Moving aside, I let him pass and point to the counter space where to put them as I make my way to my bread box and grab the bread, all without looking at him. Turning back, I’m about to thank the person when I’m stopped in my tracks.
“Hey, my beautiful Julia.”

“Dios mío,” I say barely getting the words out. The bread falls to the floor and my hands go to my mouth...to be continued <3
