movie news — casting Clary
Just dropping an entry to announce that, as reported by Deadline, Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side and the upcoming Priest**, has been cast to play Clary in the movie adaptation of City of Bones. The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things, and I have to admit right now I haven't seen The Blind Side but am obviously going to go out and watch it NOW.
She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me:

And now, of course, as this article notes, presumably the speculation about who plays Jace will begin in earnest . . .
** And apparently is also famous for dating Taylor Lautner — did I know this? No, but my readers apparently know everything. :)
ETA: Look, no actor or actress is going to look perfect or right to absolutely everyone for the part. Keep in mind *I* don't choose the actors or actresses who star in the movie — I have to trust the vision of the producers and director, and I do. I hope you can be optimistic too, but if not, super-nasty comments about Lily are going to be deleted.

Honestly, I see Alex Pettyfer as a better Will. I just don't see him as Jace. And if he plays Jace, my image of Jace will be completely ruined.
I imagined James Franco as Will,and Alex Pettyfer as Jem,but he could be a great Jace too.

Im not sure about Lily, i think shes too pretty.... and she need freckles.. im just not sure about their choice..
In the second pic she does have some freckles and if those aren't enough the make up artist can put more on!

making books into a movie takes away from the magic of reading it yourself, interpreting it your way, and having that special little world away from yours where charcters and places you can only dream of exist, thats where they ruined twilight, you cant read it now without having only the directors version of the character stuck in your head. now they have twilight MINTS, its corny and overdone. i really hope it doesnt happen to this series, because it is so amazing by itself. i dont think i will see the movie, i love and respect the world within the book too much to ruin it buy inserting another persons' ideas and ruining the magic. books are made to be interpreted by the reader, to inspire and delight, movies just cut it down, they cant include the magic in two hours of film in the way that the pages of a book can.

The first picture she looks way to old. But in the second with the curly hair I can somewhat see her as Clare. She'll probably grow on me, though I really hope the make her look more doll like and fragile!

For all those who say alex wouldn't be the right choice, I'm just curious as to see who else you have in mind? Because the only one choice I've heard of has been Alex and so far I think he actually looks like the Jace I had in mind. But, I'd also like to see some other people that are being kept in mind!
