movie news — casting Clary
Just dropping an entry to announce that, as reported by Deadline, Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side and the upcoming Priest**, has been cast to play Clary in the movie adaptation of City of Bones. The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things, and I have to admit right now I haven't seen The Blind Side but am obviously going to go out and watch it NOW.
She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me:

And now, of course, as this article notes, presumably the speculation about who plays Jace will begin in earnest . . .
** And apparently is also famous for dating Taylor Lautner — did I know this? No, but my readers apparently know everything. :)
ETA: Look, no actor or actress is going to look perfect or right to absolutely everyone for the part. Keep in mind *I* don't choose the actors or actresses who star in the movie — I have to trust the vision of the producers and director, and I do. I hope you can be optimistic too, but if not, super-nasty comments about Lily are going to be deleted.

UBER EXCITED!!!! I never thought of her as Clary, but she'll be great!! And I agree with Stephany! This is moving so quickly! Before we know it, it'll be out in theatres!

yeah but a little makeup, and a lot of great hair works wonders in making people look younger. Besides, some teenagers naturally look older- jace could be one of them. ;P

I have never seen that girl before in my life but she is as close to PERFECT we're going to get. She's small dainty and cute just like Clary.

I bet the casting directors will definitely take Alex into consideration, I mean the movie will just be that much better. Besides, us fans have been wanting this for awhile- just type Jace Wayland into google and like 94% of the pix will be Alex. It's a sign, and the universe is ordering them to pick Alex! --AARGH, I can't take all this waiting! The stress of anticipation is going to kill me...
She's good for the part. But Jace must be fantastic!
Most definitely perfect for the role of Clary - I know she is only 16 in the book but I think she is a mature 16 and this actress is perfect for the part. She is beautiful! I am really looking forward to who gets the role of Jace - who ever he is he needs to have blonde hair, but then again there is always hair dye!!!

Hi! I think Lily Collins just looks right for the part to play Clary. I find her acting in The Blind Side to be good. And I agree with what was discussed above, as long as the screenplay stays true to the book and the acting is good, then the movie should come out good. Can't wait for this to be shown! Good luck! =)

I agree with the selection for Clary,...just don´t make her be Clary with that hair!!!! She already has gorgeous hair, so try not to ruin it with those ugly curls...or at least try to style them better....
