Juno is coming

My deepest sympathies to all of you in the path of the blizzard named Juno, which will soon be barreling up the East Coast. They are talking about 2-3 feet of snow in NYC and Boston, and the mayor of NYC says this could be one of the worst storms of all time to hit his city. Please take care, stay safe—and indoors if you can. We don’t know yet how my little corner of NJ will be impacted; the last I heard was that we could escape with a few inches or be clobbered with ten inches or more. But that is nowhere near as scary as what is being predicted for Long Island and New England.
On the medieval news front, January 25th was not a lucky day for royal marriages, for on this date in 1308, Edward II wed Isabella of France and in 1533, Henry Bluebeard Tudor wed the second of his six wives, Anne Boleyn.

Misfit Wow, I hope everyone stays safe. You should all come to the Pacific Northwest. Abundant sunshine and 60 degree temps. I got the windows open.

Sharon But how often do you get to see the sun, Misfit?

This time of year, not too often. In the summer, more often than we want to let the rest of the world know.

Sharon Very wise. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful that if people knew it does not really rain there all the time, you'd be inundated with new settlers.

We try to keep it a secret from the Californians :0

Sharon As a former Californian, I am cut to the quick. :-)

Have you ever been to Gig Harbor? If I had a ton of money and could live wherever I'd want, I'd definitely consider Gig Harbor.

I think I've been there, but not spent a lot of time. I do like the Kitsap Peninsula, which is what GH is sitting on part of. Gorgeous state parks. Nice views of Rainier and the Seattle skyline if you have the right properties like the drive on 101 by Belfair at the bottom of the Hood Canal. Lovely vacation homes there. I believe there's one owned by the Nordstrom family, and the elder Mrs Gates (Bill's mom).

Happy to have a sunny dry day for all the football fans to send the team off to Phoenix.

I hope you don't get too much snow, Sharon. Kansas weather is crazy. We may hit 70 on Wednesday, but by Saturday, we'll be back to the normal winter and in the 30s.

message 9: by Sharon (new)

Sharon It is looking more and more as if we'll be spared the brunt of it, Charlene. Yesterday they were predicting 25-30 inches (yikes), but now they are saying we might get less than 10 inches. It will apparently vary greatly from place to place.

Jason We had six foot snow drifts in front of our apartment building and in our parking lot-I'm exhausted!

message 11: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Yikes, Jason. Do you live in Boston?

message 12: by Jason (new)

Jason Live north of Boston, and work in Boston-it's pretty, but there is SO much snow!
