Yes, he does, but we keep turning the pages to find out what happened to our other favorite characters.

In a way, I dread the final book, Gabriel, fearing that he will indulge in mass carnage and slaughter all the characters still left standing. He did say he likes "bittersweet" endings.
IF he kills off Tyrion or Jon Snow I may throw his brick of a book across the room and have a screaming "hissy" fit. :)
It's different in your books, if a character dies it's because he did die (and I more or less am expecting it - doesn't mean it's any easier to take) but I like a little less realism in my fantasy. Save my favorite characters, will ya, GRR Martin?

That interview of GRRM you posted a few days ago was excellent. I'm worried about his like of 'bittersweet' endings, too. And I'm with Lori - I'll be heartbroken if he kills Tyrion or Jon.
I so agree, Charlene. If he does not give Tyrion at least a "bittersweet" ending, I am going to be very unhappy. Jon deserves that, too.
When GRRM talks of "bittersweet" endings, he usually uses the Scouring of the Shire chapter in "The Return of the King" as an example of what he means by that. Anyone who's read the Lord of the Rings trilogy will instantly understand: it doesn't mean doom and gloom. Also, Benioff & Weiss, the showrunners of the HBo adaptation, know the ending, and both were recently asked to qualify it without spoiling anything, and they said it was "satisfying." And later both said it again.Plus, the illustrator of the comics adaptation, Abrams, knows Tyrion's ending, for which he said there's a clue in one of the earliest issues of the comics from back in 2011, as he's omitted one line and GRRM himself told him to put it back and he had to redraw the scene to include it.
All in all, I don't believe the ending will be overly bleak and tragic. That's what the "sweet" part of bittersweet is there for after all :). However, I do think Tyrion will die, that's almost a certainty, for he and Arya are the two characters for which there's the greatest number of clues and foreshadowing that they will be dead by the end. What fans can hope is that the Imp's death be epic and by the very end, not much more, and given that he's GRRM's favourite character, he may get that.
IF you are right, Marquise, and Tyrion dies at the end, that will spoil the entire series for me. He is my favorite character by far, and I don't think even an "epic death" would console me Did GRRM actually say Tyrion is his favorite character?

The character that most concerns me is, Arya. I like her character so much and she has shown such pluck and courage....but her story is becoming darker and darker. There is also that comment said by Jon to Arya in the first book-a massive foreshadowing I am tipping.If Tyrion is killed off I swear I wont buy another book by Martin! Not ever!

There are other characters that I really like such as Samwell and Brienne...but the above three are essential, to me anyway.
I also want Daenerys to survive, Rebecca. And I'd throw a lifeline to Brienne and even Jamie; he did save Tyrion, after all. But any anchor I threw to Cersei would have an anchor attached to it.
I don't know why but I get a feeling of doom about Daenerys, a kind of Mary Queen of Scots doom. I hope I'm wrong.When it comes to Jaime I get a sense that he will do something heroic but he his motives will be misunderstood-It seems to be a running theme through his life. He saved the population of Kings Landing under the rule of the mad King, but his action only earned him ridicule(even tho everyone from Ned to Robert wanted Aerys dead). I like the way Martin has redeemed his character and fleshed him out...but he threw Bran from the window and I have a feeling the consequence of that action will come back to bite him.
As for Cersei....I agree wholeheartedly...I will be ticked off if Tyrion were to die and she survive!
I think you're probably right about Jamie. We know GRRM is going to kill off most of the cast by the end of the seventh book!
