I agree. As someone who is herself in the lifestyle I was taken aback by the amount of abuse and assault and battery passed off as "loving BDSM". It is the exception, not the rule, that what is described is SSC/RACK of truly enthusiastic partners. Few if any scenes get described as what they are: people interacting who respect and love each other. And most BDSM described gives off distinctly negative vibes while reading. I always wonder how much some of these authors really understand what they write about. Too often it feels as if BDSM was just some acceptable name for abuse.

I agree with your sentiment. One of the main reasons why I have backed down off the number of MM-Romance novels that I read lately is because of the extremes in violence in the sex play.
I mean to each their own right? But it's gotten to the point that when I see a new MM romance novel come out, I wait to see how the reviews come in.
Don't get me wrong, I do not mind reading erotic scenes provided they fit into the story and are not cut and pasted in just to make some quota.
But I absolutely can not stand to see/read graphic violence, verbal/mental/physical abuse, and flat-out acts of torture being passed off as 'just another form of caring, love, and/or respect.'
