Lisa It is also important for students to have parents that can read the books to them!! I work in a largely hispanic school and teachers just don't understand why the biligual children often do not progress as quickly as the other students. Many of these bilingual students do not have parents at home that speak or read English. It is so important for these students to have good role models at school so that they are progressing at the standards the state has set for each grade level.
