Thank you for writing this for your Constant Readers, Stephen. I too was miffed at the obvious differences in the first episode, because I really loved the first chapters and was looking forward to seeing it played out on the screen. However, your explanation makes perfect sense and I will now continue to enjoy the "alternate universe" that the series provides and simply hang on for the wild ride that I know is coming :)

I love this. I had a hard time accepting it was going to be different, but I went into the first episode with an open mind and I really liked it. I figure since its different, I can enjoy the surprises and mysteries more since I wont know what to expect. And you are right, its sitting on my bookshelf so I can re-read the story as many times as I want =) We should feel lucky we get "two" stories by you
I loved Under the Dome, it ranks with Mr. King's finest works in my opinion. I enjoyed the first episode of the series. I'm certainly not going to get bent about changes - in fact, having read the book already, changes are welcome provided it is still enjoyable. And it is, so far. I think the dialogue and acting are a bit uneven in quality, but the direction is very good, as was the pacing, and it kept me very interested. There was a raw energy to the first episode that was very engaging. Looking forward to the rest.
Thanks for the wonderful letter regarding 'Under the Dome' on CBS! As a huge fan of your work I always complain that someone took a great story and ruined it in a blind search for ratings or money. Your message reminds me that its ok to accept change and sometimes change makes life fun! I can't wait to see what the alternate universe has in store!
I have always enjoyed watching the television and movie adaptations of your work although my own imagination still does a much better job of seeing the scenes. Excellent opening to the series!
I'm with Mr. King here--great letter to us Constant Readers! Thank you! I'm thoroughly enjoying the mini-series too.
Thank you for the letter. I loved the book and am enjoying the series as well. I'd noticed the changes, but like with all great things, read and seen, some just do not translate well. That doesn't take away from its greatness. It's just different. I think that for the people that didn't read the book but ARE watching the series, they'd not appreciate viewing some of the things that took place in the book. Those things are just better in the book where they belong.I am and shall always be a fan of all things King.
Thanks for the letter. I have read the book which I really liked and being part of the humankind that lives very down south of africa, haven't seen any CBS episodes...hopefully we will one day.I must be honest and say that some of the adapted for tv shows of some of your books have not been as good as the books....but that's my opinion....but having said that...I can't resist reading or watching anything written by you...YOU ROCK!!!!
