The 2013 Fantasy Pin-up Calendar: Announcing our Authors

Last year, as some of you might remember, I accidentally published a calendar.

We did it as a fundraiser for Worldbuilders, and it fit in with our book-centered geekery pretty well because each month featured a pin-up based on a classic literary figure.

Like Mark Twain:

Lewis Carrol:

Or Nathanial Hawthorne:

At some point while working with the artist, Lee Moyer, we ended up discussing how it would be cool to do a similar sort of calendar, but with more modern authors.

Maybe even doing it with some...

Tegan <3

Tegan Personally I'm looking at it as a substitute for the Men of the Stacks calendar which does not seem to be an option for 2013.

Mishka As a woman, I approve of this calendar.

Katie Mishka, concur! Also, I would argue that at least one female character in this calender (Phedre no Delauney, Ms. Carey's creation) was born to be objectified. She would, in fact, rather delight in it, I suspect.

Evan "It exploits men by exploiting women." :P

There's a market for everything and people willing to do the job, so I say what's the harm?

Chris As a woman, I approve of this calendar!

And I will probably buy it - it's all in good fun!

message 8: by Evan (new)

Evan Indeed. "...out of the mouths of babes."

And to be fair, I volunteer myself for an all male pin-up calendar. It will likely only sell to grody old men or lesbians who see me as a "butch chick", but such is the mantle I carry. :P

Rachel As a woman, I want a male version please please please! Kvothe! Jamie Fraser! and so on....

message 10: by Evan (new)

Evan If I were in it, folks would have to settle for Gollum! Ha!

That laugh is to hide my pain. :'(
