The difference between fact and fiction, or myth and reality, often lies in the perception of the beholder. There was a founder of Alba Longa, the city-state that was to became Rome. Also, there was a progenitor of gens Julii. Homer would undoubtedly tell you that in both instances that person was none other than Aeneas, the Trojan general who fled Troy after the city was sacked by Spartans.
