Hello beautiful people,
Here it is, April. Yeah, I'm going to have to write that again, hoping it will sink in. April. I feel like this year has wings on its heels.
Several people have kindly reached out to me on various platforms with questions over the last few months. And I thought everyone might be interested in the Q & A's.
Q: Who will lead book 15 in the Southern Sanctuary Series?
A: Gigi, our favourite chocolatier, or should that be poisoner, will take lead. A couple of side threads (featuring the babies) have already popped into my head. And the main story line is kind of simmering away in my brain box, percolating away.
Don't intend to start drafting it for a few more months yet so if anything changes, I'll let you know.
Q: What book are you working on right now?
A: Book 2 of the Vexatious Valkyries Series - A Demon Is Forever. I'm almost half way through writing the first draft and having a blast. Shaw, our grumpy Valkyrie with the bum knee, finds herself having to work with the always talking, always flirting, Kaleb, Conflict Demon & current King. There are assassins on their tail whilst they try to complete a to-do list compiled by a very pregnant, very hormonal Stephanie (from book 1)
I must confess writing about the Valkyries has proven tons of fun. There's just something about the Valkyrie empire having gone Corporate that tickles my funny bone.
Q: You mentioned a sci-fi series, what's up with that?
A: In my spare time, of which I have very little, I have begun writing the first book. Am only a few chapters in, and it's a lot to deal with, creating an entire universe. Am not yet sure whether it's something I seriously want to pursue as yet or if I am just doodling.
Q: Why don't I see your books on the shelves in bookstores more often?
A: When I started this whole writing gig, I had to make a decision. I could go the query route, sit on my work and wait for big/medium/boutique publishing to take me on. Or, I could self-publish, get my work out there, judge the reaction, and - perhaps most importantly - find out if I was capable of writing multi books in a series.
So, yeah, thanks to print on demand you can occasionally find my books on the shelves, but unless a clamouring crowd spontaneously erupts (fingers crossed someone on Booktok stumbles across me and falls in love) I will in the meantime keep doing what I am doing.
Q: Will you do a book signing or bookstore visit near me soon?
A: Never say never. If the stars align I would love to do some meet and greets and attend a few cons. Maybe some day.
Q: I love the cats, and the new kitten, Cap. Will we be seeing more of them soon?
A: Think Cap will feature in book 15. Have been musing on the idea of making him work with/for Darcy on the matchmaking front, not that she will want his help. That could be a fun dynamic.
Q: What's happening with the babies in the southern sanctuary series?
A: Their magic is developing in leaps and bounds and they will be featuring in a side thread in book 15. Gaia remains fiercely competitive. So am intending to have lots of fun with that. And it's time for Nell to give birth, and I can already tell you Drum is not going to handle it at all well.
Q: Healthwise - how are you?
A: Thanks for asking. Am pretty good at the moment. Currently attempting to build my strength up to a higher level thanks to four weekly sessions in the pool and now pilates once a week.
I've recently been able to extend the amount of writing time I do each day. It's no where near my pre-accident days but am headed in the right direction. More importantly I am back in a routine - one of the biggest challenges any writer faces is getting that locked down. So - yay - and no foreseeable big medical hiccups in the future to slow me down, Double yay.
Q: I read/or didn't read your books and have a burning question. How do I contact you?
A: Well we could meet in dreamland... nah, just kidding, times zones are so hard to work out. Try me instead on Facebook. Twitter. Goodreads. Instagram. Or my website -
