I need your help

Looking for the best books and movies with a dark family secret that is slowly revealed with a shocking or terrifying ending. They do not need to be recent, and bonus points from non-English sources.

Andrea I can't think of any but the suggestmeabook subreddit on reddit.com is a good resource if you post the question there and you can do it anonymously. And it's a fun place to hangout.

Mark Nelson Robert Goddard immediately came to mind, although he is English. I've read over 20 of his books and a number of them delve into a family's mysterious past. I'd point especially to In Pale Battalions, Painting the Darkness, Hand in Glove and Out of the Sun. Good luck -- always enjoy your books!
