I'm glad Bill tried to address the job issue of going green because it certainly felt like a big void. However, l still wasn't satisfied with his answer to be honest. I just dont feel like his post offers enough details to be convincing to me about the feasibilty of transitioning a huge fossil fuel dependent workforce. Sure stopping or severely slowing down climate change will be a big win for everyone but, economically, at least in the US, there's going to be some heavy losses. I can't see how any politician in many areas of the country will vote or form policies contradictory to the livelihoods of their own constituents. Hard to be optimistic when I think about it, though I hope I can be proven utterly wrong.

Dear Bill:Climate change is only one existential threat that puts homo sapiens existence into question as its dire predicament is also negatively affected by exponential overpopulation and economic growth, unbridled ecocide, unprecedented species extinctions, global nuclear war, and the inevitable exhaustion of most critical NNRs* needed to sustain the industrial.- consumer complex. Solving climate change, if possible. is not and never will be humanity's silver bullet because we face numerous equal or greater threats, It is therefore only logical that we must be more comprehensive in our approach to all these threats - even then I fear that we could be blindsided by some unforeseen eventuality. It is the nature of vampires.
* NNRs - Non-Renewable Natural Resources; consisting of fossil fuels, materials, and non-metallic minerals.
Hence, may I humbly suggest, that all the hubris, conjecture, and rhetorical debate engulfing climate change, that it is the greatest singular threat to human existence - is misguided because it is not the only one - and we should all revisit these three books to refresh our understanding of the various and comprehensive existential threats requiring our immediate attention particularly the exhaustion of NNRs by 2050, that will soon be grimly knocking at our door. NNR exhaustion is the real brick wall that will certainly end our industrial way of life that had commenced just 300 years ago in 1750. It was clearly based on self-terminating dogma and is physically and exponentially unsustainable.
Simple arithmetic - you cannot defeat the finite physical constraints of Earth - time just runs out. What do you think?
