Thanks for sharing this post. As a writer, I expected quarantine to result in an explosion of words, but it didn't. Quite the opposite. You helped me feel a little bit better about it. Here's to more words in 2021!
Write anything at all. Past evidence seems to indicate that I'll buy, read, and enjoy it. My only reservation is that my tastes have changed and nowadays I do not seek out stories as introspective, dark (and sometimes violent) as the Farseer stories any more. I rest better, my dreams aren't as frightening and I seem to re-read things with more enjoyment.
I loved that journey with Fitz, adore Nighteyes and Bee a bit more extravagantly, but find I simply cannot dip back into their stories just now.
Never mind me. :)
As an introvert who spent 2020 (and now the beginning of 2021) trapped with two extroverts, it made me feel so much better about my total failure at creative work to know you have also struggled in this same way. So many of my favorite authors and artists happened to be able to continue work as usual, indeed perhaps felt freed of tours and conventions, that I felt so much the worse for my own failings. I am certain wherever you go creatively, with or without Bee, is going to be interesting.
We only do what we can do. Glad you got some positives from 2020, have some small goals for 2021, and just breathe!
Sending good wishes your way. And I think I speak for a lot of people,
I would love to read more about Bee and go back to the The Six Duchies.
"deranged squirrel" ... priceless :DJust wanted to thank you for your amazing stories. And from one introvert to another ... I know how how it feels ... without your personal space during this crisis. Hope you'll get more time to be by yourself and recharge!
I feel this post! I have 3 kids and a teacher for a partner and they are ALL here ALL. THE. TIME! It is exhausting.I have, however gotten at least 2 people to fall in love with ROTE. Doing a reread myself ❤️. Would absolutely love more Hobb! More Bee? Sure! This world and these characters were the richest, most fulfilling read I have ever encountered. ☺️ thank you.
I mean obviously you have to decide for yourself, but if you choose to Bee, I'd definitely be a reader.
"Hobb needs to make some tough decisions. To Bee or not to Bee."omfg any more farseer would be a joyous occasion ripe for celebration!
Scratch wrote: "If you write anything in the Farseer universe, even if it's only about Bee, I will definitely read it. The question becomes whether fans can come to grips with returning to a universe where the las..."I would love to hear more about the characters from The Liveship Traders
Thanks for the update. I love everything that you share.Of course I want more Bee (and Kettricken!) but I also really enjoyed the two newest Megan Lindholm short stories, which I read this year. Very much looking forward to the Celtsie novel.
Your resolutions/hopes are great. I need to do a few of them myself.. Particularly like the idea of giving yourself space to be a different person as you age. We get so set in out ways/habits/rituals, even after they stop serving us.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I genuinely hope you find that joy in your life. So much depends on it. We may love the worlds you bring to us, but having the space to create these and to enjoy who you are as a person is so important. I also wonder why people expect you to talk to them all the time when they're around :) But it sounds like perhaps something precious came out of it nonetheless.
Please choose to Bee. As long as it's the decision that feels the most right to you.
Thank you for this tiny window you've opened for us to peek through. <3
I really wish it will Bee. But what matters in the end is that you do what you love. Please, take care.

Love your blog. It was so heartfelt and honest. I can better understand where the inspiration for such real, human and kind characters come from.To Bee ! Yes, of course, but I can see why it's perhaps a difficult choice to make for you : the story is told and finished and we all said goodbye ... but still, it would make me so happy to read about young-adult, or adult, or even old Bee. Tough choice.
May you find some time alone to think about it. Stay safe.
OMG people please leave Robin Hobb alone, we need more of her writing in this world....And Mrs. Hobb if your listening i think a great story would be about Chivalry. I often wonder what his life was up until the start of the series, him and Verity as youngins and Shrew as a young King etc. And Also the Elderlings ,pre everything we know now. Like in the flashbacks/memories Malta and Some of the dragon keepers had it seems they had a pretty cool society with the dragons.
Love this non-blog. I'd read anything by you! But, after this, consider that maybe it's time for just describing the pickling and the digging, the Hobbsian memoir?
I feel you. Different details, but I just shut down for a lot of 2020. Hoping for a more productive 2021.
Please Bee please Bee Please Bee......xxCan't wait to read Megan's short story...
Hope you've regained your solitude in 2021....
The Edge of the World bookshop in Penzance is currently experiencing a Hobb love-in.... lots of Farseer books allowing our customers the perfect escape with amazing characters/new friends..
We love you, take care, stay safe and have a good day xx

With love from the UK.
