So many small presses find the distribution of funds to authors a problem; and bigger publishers are also often guilty of failing to issue mandatory Royalty Statements. We receive many complaints at the Irish Writers Union. Receiving Royalty payments is good, but without the accompanying Statement an author is in the dark regarding sales and the correctness of monies received. Indie Authors are spared these problems, but writers shouldn't rush to sign the first contract offered without having it professionally appraised.
I agree, Lissa! Royalty money is earned money by the author. A publisher who doesn't report and pay an author their royalties is stealing the author's money. Writer beware! http://www.JoeCosentino.weebly.com
