Questions

I asked myself a question today on Goodreads and then I answered it. I also discovered that a reader had asked me a question, except that it wasn't a question. It was praise. I love that. I answered her question, even though technically it wasn't a question.

It made me think how cool that you can come to an author's page here and ask them a question and get an answer. So, ask me something? Or I can keep on asking myself questions. I mean, I do that every day. Right now, I am wondering when I should get up to cook dinner and do I really want to make the salmon. It will make the kitchen hot and I am feeling lazy. Maybe I will come back later and tell you what I did.

Okay. Carry on.

John Marcy, I've just finished The Red Car. You've helped restore my sense of the wonder and possibilites in simply being alive, and of how lucky I am that I can feel that way. Thank you.

Marcy Dermansky Thank you. It is a gift to wake up and read this message. On a personal level, The Red Car is my favorite of all my novels and I am so glad it moved you.

John Hi Marcy, I absolutely love what you do to posers. Just finished Very Nice. I also love your main characters and the twists and turns of their experiences and the beautifully human ways in which you depict their responses to what life presents them. I also love the deep breath I take at the end of your books.

Marcy Dermansky Thank you, John. I am so pleased to hear that. I am especially glad to know about the deep breath. I know that I like to keep my endings a little open-ended. I could keep writing, but prefer to leave my characters in a distilled moment.

Finalizing some events.

It is not enough to have a reading any more either. They really are events. When I went to Irina Reyn's launch party, there was this terrific little band playing Russian songs.
