Duane Allman, RIP

Today in 1971, legendary rock guitarist Duane Allman died at age 24 in a tragic motorcycle accident. His guitar riffs traded with Eric Clapton in "Layla" is one of the favorite songs I listen to while I write, so this day has significance to me. I'm struck by the young age and the saying "they died too early" comes to mind. Duane died younger than Jimmy, Janice, or Jim. At any rate, Duane's music lives on.

Thomas Hopp Duane fuels my writing sometimes too. Didn't know he'd played on Layla, but now that you mention it, yeah, I hear him. He had a unique left-hand style the created uncanny riffs that, to my mind, have never been recreated by any artist since his death.
