I am currently reading this book. It is a page turner ! This book is alarmingly real with our world today. We now have a glimpse into lives which have been shattered by violence. As always, Nora Roberts brings life to all of her characters. Thank you, Nora !!
When I first started reading I wondered if I would be able to finish it, but it turned into a compelling story. I love the way the characters meshed and I love CiCi.
Although I enjoyed the book, a lot of the characters reminded me too vividly of characters from other books. CiCi bore a striking resemblance to Sunny, of The Witness. Reed had some similarity to Brookes, of The Witness. And Mi had things in common with the vet in The Search, for example. The one real flaw I found was that the homicidal maniac had absolutely no relatable trait. No one is completely evil, so this character seemed more like a cardboard cutout. I didn't care for the way CiCi stole every scene she was in - why not just write a book featuring her as the heroine? My favorite Roberts books have not lost their place in the list; this one is entertaining, but not one of the best.
