To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, is one of those novels that enraptures its reader throughout the story. It is loved by many generations of readers. It is a story about Scout, a little girl growing up during the days of segregation and racial division in the south during the early 1900s. Her and the family are being thrown into turmoil as her father (Atticus) defends an African-American man accused of raping a white woman, and the struggles of trying to represent his client amid the racial tensions directed at the family.
Unfortunately, this book has been recently added to the banned literature book list in numerous American schools due to racial epithets used within the story.
This book is a must read for anyone who is into a great work of fiction, as well as, a great analytical read.
