The hell-storms

At times this year it seems as if nature is at war with us. Extraordinarily powerful hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico ,and the Caribbean. A devastating earthquake in Mexico. And now one of the worst fires in California history, with the death toll sure to mount. One of the most chilling descriptions of these infernos simply called them the “hell-storms.” Add to this litany of tragedies the massacre in Las Vegas and it is overwhelming. All we can do is to try to help where and when we can—and to give credit to the courage of the first responders. They save so many lives, often at the risk of their own. Here is a link to the California fires.

I won’t keep apologizing for my frequent absences; how boring would that be? I miss being here and interacting with you all, and I am so looking forward to the day when the deadline dragon flies off to wherever evicted dragons go and life returns to normal.

Candace It truly is overwhelming. Add to that whatever personal crises we have in our lives, and our coping skills can max out in a hurry. I'm dealing with it by turning off TV news. That sounds terrible, but I know I just can't handle any more right now. It's not that I don't care about what's happening; it's that I care so much that I have to keep an emotional distance in order to function. ((HUGS)) to you and everyone who is feeling overwhelmed.

RJay All of the natural disasters and then the constant political tsunamis - I agree, it's too much!
I wish the news media would stop 'following' Trump's tweets - their harping and hanging on every word only provides encouragement for more #@7!#* tweets from the U.S. Commander in Chief.

Give me the middle ages .... please!

Leila It's also frequent turmoil here in the United Kingdom politically and the mess that is Brexit. All over the world tragedies keep happening far too frequently. The world seems to be living in fear. Every morning I switch on the News wondering just what awful tragedy could once more be upon us. We used to talk about 'The Dark Ages' I think the world is right in the middle of a new 'Dark Ages' No wonder nature appears to be at war with us too.
