The book I wrote is a thriller beyond the conventional thrillers which we come across. This I conceived some two years back, but as not being a full time author never got around actually pen it down till this year. As a reader of Thrillers, Mystery and Crimes my whole life I thought of writing a thriller in a different style. Just to give a taste of what one can find inside the novel, here is a peek inside the book:
Dreams ImplantPartho BoseDavid rubbed his eyes and sat up on the bed. He
realised he was in his hotel room, his eyes were burning
and head was swarming. He lied on the bed again.
“Why am I in my hotel room sleeping at the middle
of the day,” he thought to himself.
As far he could remembered, he delivered his
keynote address at the Advertising Conference, in Texas,
but, what happened after that he couldn’t recollect. He
lay on the bed blankly staring at the ceiling, when there
was a knock at the door. He got up and saw he was only
wearing his boxers; he threw a robe over it and walked
bare feet to open the door.
Jane, his secretary, was standing outside the door.
He stepped aside after opening the door and she walked
in. She looked fresh and as she walked by he could smell
her shampoo. Her hair was wet as she must have taken
bath recently. On reaching the middle of the room, she
turned towards him and asked,“How are you feeling
now?”
Closing the door, David came and stood beside
her, “Not good, have a terrible headache. Also, a bit
confused what am I doing here when we were supposed
to be at the conference,” replied David.
“Conference is over. I brought you here after you
collapsed during the cocktail luncheon,” Jane answered
his query.
“But how come, what happened. I can’t even
recollect anything except me delivering the keynote
address,” said David.
“Well, during the luncheon, you suddenly started
having breathing problem and you collapsed of your
table,” replied Jane.
David looked at her trying to recollect the incidence.
“Then?”“We got worried, but, thank God there
was a doctor amongst the guests, who checked you
and gave medication on the spot,” said Jane, looking at
him intently and listening to her as she recounted the
happenings.“Then you were shifted in your room. As
per the doctor, it happened because of fatigue, but, there
is no need to worry about it,” Jane concluded.
David was silent for a minute before he said, “But,
the funny part is why I can’t remember collapsing or
any other thing of that duration. This makes no sense,”
he said the last sentence more to himself than to Jane.
She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders.
“Don’t know. It is better for if you take rest for today
as we are not scheduled for anything. This might help
you regain your strength and may be you can remember
something after your mind gets relaxed,” Jane offered
her suggestion.
“Probably, you are right. I should take your advice
and rest, so, I can be fit when we travel tomorrow to New
York,” said David.“Yes, that’s what the doctor adviced,”
said Jane smilingly.
Then she turned towards the door. Before she
reached the door, David asked her from behind.
“Did you speak to Alexis about this”.Jane shook
her head and said, “No, I thought there was no point
upsetting her with this news when she can’t help. This
would only create concern and tension for her”.
“Smart thinking, let’s leave it to that only. I don’t
know what I would do without you. Thank you so much
Jane,” said David.
“Not at all, I love to do these; you know it and I
really enjoy working for you. Take care”.
Jane glided towards the door and opened it. She
turned back for the last time and looked at David before
closing the door. Outside, she stood in the corridor for
a few moments and then smiled to herself thinking, all’s
going well before she turned towards her room.
