A Final Farewell to a Novel from the Author

When my novel was released in 2011, I did not expect it to become a commercial success; therefore, I was not disappointed when it did not.

Although currently still available through a few commercial vendors, since the publisher went out of business on January 17 of this year, when those vendors' inventories are depleted, the novel will no longer be available.

Sales far exceeded my expectation; therefore, I am quite satisfied with the novel's six years of availability. Sales totaled 1,029 units (485 paperbacks - 480 e-books - 36 audio books on CD - 28 audio book downloads). Royalty checks total $2,358.34.

I wish to sincerely thank all those who purchased the book and especially those who expended the time and effort to post a rating and/or review in various literary websites. I hope that you enjoyed reading about the world of Levels as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Mike Robbins Those are indeed not bad figures Jim. You could perhaps put out an edition yourself so that it could remain available.

Mike,
I appreciate the compliment, but please note that those figures cover a 6-year period.
Writing a novel proved to be a challenging and enjoyable experience. However, there are many more challenging and enjoyable things I wish to experience and so little time.
Thank you for taking the time to post a comment on the blog post. Such input is always welcome and very much appreciated.

Alicia Ehrhardt Most people never get to writing that novel they wanted to write. I think you have far exceeded that benchmark.

I'm glad you have real life things you want to do. Writing is not the only thing in life even for those who get the first novel published and sold.

Ask me if I'm still addicted when I get the last volume of my mainstream trilogy (which was designed to be a single book, but Createspace doesn't let you print something as long as Gone With the Wind).

Happy reading!

Jim Vuksic Alicia,
Thank you for the compliment, remaining a loyal follower of the blog and, once again, taking the time to share your opinion. Your ideas and suggestions are always appreciated.

It took me 14 months to produce a polished, 126,000 word manuscript and an additional 2 months, working with and learning from the copy and conceptual editors, to convert it into a 111,000 word, commercially viable book. Therefore, I can appreciate the amount of effort, discipline and determination required to produce a trilogy of the size and scope of yours. I sincerely wish you great success in this admirable endeavor.

You should be proud, Jim. Many people say they want to write a novel. Few do. Fewer still see it published. Fewer still see some sales beyond a small circle of friends. Bravo.

Charles,

Thank you for the kind words.
I have no regrets regarding the time and effort invested writing that novel. It was a story that had been fermenting inside my head for several years, just itching to be told.

I also appreciate you taking the time to read the blog post and posting a comment.
