On my way to Toronto for Ad Astra 2017

I will be off to the airport in a few minutes heading to Toronto for Ad Astra 2017. I would love to see you there this weekend, but if you can’t make it that’s okay. The greatest compliment you can give me is to read my books.

Here is my schedule, which you can also find on my events page:

Friday, May 5th

Opening Ceremonies

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Richmond A

Saturday, May 6th

Thomas Gofton, Anne Bishop, Julie Czerneda, Arlene Marks, Brandon Sanderson, Steve Stirling

Do you like to create? Creating fictional properties can seem like an overwhelming task. Do you begin from the small village or city and work your way out, or do you think of the grand schemes of the universe that govern your world and work your way all the way down to the very house your characters will start in? Learn a few tips on making your worlds make sense.

GOH Hour

Time: 2:00 PM

Location: Richmond CD

Signing

Time: 4:00–6:00 PM

Sunday, May 7th

The Border of Magic and Science

Time: 3:00 PM

Location: Aurora

Cathy Hird, Brandon Sanderson, Geoff Hart, A.A. Jankiewicz, Neil Jamieson-Williams

Magic operates within rules. Technology has its rules. But in speculative fiction the lines get blurred as unfamiliar tech looks like magic, and engineered tools use rules of physics beyond the ones we have (so far) defined. This panel will explore the borderline, discussing the best, and worst, examples of the way technology gets stretched.

Helena Trooperman What an amazing Saturday. Brandon is the most genuine and lovely person! There was a bit of a wait to see him, but he stayed longer than he should have to see everyone. No one minded, though. Everyone in the queue shared their stories and we all chatted about our favourite Sanderson books and artwork. I do wish I could have stayed for the Sunday's magic discussion, because the world building was fantastic. Fans few in from Ireland and China to see Brandon. Wow-it's worth it!
