Advent Calendar Day 3

Happy Third of December! Are you out holiday shopping even as we speak?

Maybe I can simplify that a bit for you.

Today I'm giving away five signed copies of paperback books--which I'll inscribe with a suitable holiday greeting to the loved one of your choice, and then frantically ship off in an attempt to reach them before the holiday (depending on which holiday you're celebrating).

The book is The Curse of the Blue Scarab and it's kind of...kooky. Well, it's VERY kooky. It's 90,000 words of goofy Edwardian mystery and romance, which is actually kind of perfect for holiday reading when you just want to lose yourself in another world. A world with fine china, crisp linens, vengeful Egyptian priestesses and a handsome, imperiled hero whose only hope of rescue is a curmudgeonly doctor with *cough* unnatural desires.

Something like that.

A copy of The Curse of the Blue Scarab will be awarded to five randomly selected commenters below who share their favorite holiday (or other) cocktail recipe.

In order to have a chance in Hades of getting these books out in time, I will select the winners on Monday, so don't dally.

And because if you ARE holiday shopping today, I know you already need a drink, let me share my current absolute favorite martini. It's called a Black Orchid and it is rather delightful.

BLACK ORCHID1 oz Raspberry Vodka1 oz Blue Curacao1 oz Watermelon Puckera big splash of cranberry juice
Strain over ice and pour into your martini glass

PUMPKIN SPICE MARTINI{
1 1/2 oz Vanilla Vodka, 1 1/2 oz Pumpkin flavored liquer, (hiram Walker) and 1 1/2 oz Bailey's Irish cream. Wet the glass rim dipp it in cinnamon and sugar. Strain the drink over ice and threw in a pinch of ground nutmeg in the center.
It's a strong one but oh so good.

Anna Ziesak I'm a fan of mulled beverages in the cold months so I'll share my fav. Mulled Cider recipe.

Mulled Cider With Dark Rum

1 Apple
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 thinly sliced orange
2 quarts apple cider
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon allspice
Pinch grated nutmeg
1 cup dark rum
Cinnamon sticks to garnish

Insert the cloves in the apple. In a medium pot, combine the apple and remaining ingredients except for the rum. Slowly bring to a simmer over low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the rum. Discard the apple. Ladle into mugs and garnish each with a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Delicious!

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ My favorite cocktail is something a friend and I concocted called "Jungle Juice"

It's
1 60 oz container of simply raspberry lemonade
1/2 cup of ginger ale
1 liter of Le Citron Grey Goose
Half a cup of raspberries
Slices of Orange for garnish.
