Insecurity

I think all authors must be the same. We could get a ton of gushing reviews and it’s the one (or more) bad ones that we remember. I shouldn’t look at Goodreads, should hardly look at Amazon but I am a glutton for punishment. Still, this time it wasn’t the review sites that made me wobble, but other authors. They don’t do it deliberately – obviously, but when you’re not on ‘ a certain list’ , you’re not invited to take part in something you can see all your friends on, when you always feel outside of the group – well to me, it’s just like being back at school when I was the outsider then too. I’m not looking for sympathy here or cries of we love you – from my two fans- bless you. But it is one of the reasons I really don’t think I’ll go to any more meet ups, book signings etc. Course, no one will read this so no one will know! LOL

Staphysagria oh, please, don´t let those few d…heads get to you- you have written an enormous number of highly entertaining books. Sweet Malachi is one of my most favorite fictional characters ever….the vast number of positive reader comments will hopefully fortify your self-esteem. There is a proverb my late latin teacher used to quote (I can´t remember the wording, sorry for my poor memory, but the gist was thus:) why should the oak tree care if the boar rubs itself against it? So, never mind the pigs, keep on writing the good stuff!!!

Thank you!!! I don't know that the feeling of being on the outside looking in will ever fade. I suspect that's just part of my nature. But I have lots to do this year. No time for wallowing!!

Beanimous HI Barbara

I know this message came a bit late from your original post, but I thought you should know that you are one of my "one-click" buy authors.

I like your books very much, they are emotional, fun, real and most of all, so darn refreshing. I am so glad that you are not like the rest, I am so glad that you are different, and wrote so many fabulous books that we all have enjoyed tremendously.

Please keep on doing what you do, and please don't ever change, I love your talent and your voice. Please don't conform, your uniqueness is what made you special, it is what make your book special. Don't doubt yourself.

Thanks you so much for that message. It cheered me up no end! Self-doubt is very invasive!
