Welcome to my world. Take pills to sleep and they don't work anymore. I just pray.

I worry all the time, just like you, and mostly about things that may never happen in the first place. I think somehow that if I worry about them then they won't happen, or at least I will be prepared if they do.I hated the idea of yoga for years, it was just too zen for me, it just seemed to me that yoga was for people who could actually clear their head (so not me).
Now, I not only do yoga but also meditation and I can say with all honesty that the me from two years ago would be laughing at myself right now for this statement. But it helps so I say it with my head held high: it really does help. It is not magic, it won't change your life in just one session, but it has slowly made me a tiny bit more calm and it has given me tools to control my anxiety a bit better. And that is better than nothing.
If you find the right practice you realise that yoga may actually be so much more beneficial for those of us who can't stop our minds. It is not about clearing your head, it is about letting thoughts come and go, and it is about using your body as a tool to calm yourself when those thoughts turn to panic. If you are up to it, I would recommend a yoga practice with loads of stretching exercises, they seem to work best for me at least. I use YouTube videos (yoga with adriene) so I don't even have to leave the house, and I can just stop the video if the exercises are not working for me.
Hope you don't meet Insomnia tonight...
Insomnia is a beast, that's what it is, Jackie. Hoping for better nights sleep for you in the future.
Solange,I really appreciate your encouraging letter and the time you took to write it. That's interesting that yoga is about "letting thoughts go, and it is about using your body as a tool to calm yourself," as you said. I will definitely think about that. I need to let more thoughts just go. Thank you for the info. Hope you're having a lovely day.
