In one of my short stories, set in the present (I don't recall the exact date I wrote it, but it was no earlier than 2007) my FBI agent heroine packs a "standard government issue" .38 six-shot revolver. At the time, I was basing this on something I'd read long before (maybe The FBI Story: A Report To The People) and vague memories of the old TV show The F.B.I.; but I'm guessing that this was probably another blooper caused by inadequate research. I really wish that I'd had a copy of your book when I was writing that story collection!
